How to reduce shrinkage-D.I.Y.

Ahhh, shrinkage a natural’s worst enemy.  Shrinkage is more common with 3c, 4a, and 4c hair

You can either throw a fit or help to reduce your shrinkage and here’s how….

Quick style for a bad hair day

Don’t we just hate bad hair days? Man, today had to my day. While whipping up a deep conditioner to revive my curls, I decided to add a banana. It was something I had never did before and I figured why not, I’ve seen youtube videos and it worked for them. Here is where I messed up, I decided I’d add it without adding all my mix to a blender…. WORST DECISION EVER. I whipped as hard as I could with a bowl and a whip. As clumpy as it was, I was tired of whipping so I continued on to put it in my hair and work it into my scalp. It felt amazing and I made my hair feel so soft, but when it was time to wash it out I noticed that my hair was very clumpy. Banana was all in my hair and as wonderful as it smelled I didn’t want it in my hair. I washed my hair with Pantene co-wash about 3 times until it was all somewhat gone. Gosh what a morning and on top of that my curls are not revived. What do I do now? Throw a fit or fix it? Isn’t it just the worst when you have to style your hair when you only wanted a simple wash-n-go? Hair malfunctions can make you want to throw a fit but  decided to fix it. A natural fact is that we spend more time dragging to do our hair than we do actually doing the hairstyle, so I grabbed my eco styler gel and my headband and got to work. D.I.Y | How to achieve curls in abundance

This style is perfect for transitioners. Whether you are relaxed or natural you can achieve this look. My customer/model I have here is transitioning, she only has 1 inch of new growth that is natural. You do not have to do the mohawk style this is just what she preferred. I first started with an apple cider vinegar wash ACVW and a co-wash. I braided hair into to the mohawk and begin the rolling process. I used about twenty-five small skinny perm rods for her style in perticular, so if you prefer to rod your entire head you will need at sixty. “The lighter the product the less process” ,as I always say. If you use a heavy product you will spend more time under the dryer. I used only coconut oil on her hair. Starting with a small block size section, apply your product. Take the roller and beginning at the end roll the hair in an spiral upward motion (that is if you want a stretched curl look). Continue that process until you reach the stop. Now, here is where we switch it up. Nobody likes that old skool roller set look. We don’t want the roller set to be noticeable so here’s how we avoid that. Instead of having the section grow across we are going to have it coming down. So grab a section making sure it is tall in height and small in width and roll it up. Once you are all done sit under a dryer for 30 minutes or you can air dry and take them out the next day.
